 For a non-root installation, you specify what user and group to use at the
 time that you run the MacPorts base `./configure` script (the `--with-
 install-user` and `--with-install-group` flags).

 Your user account should be in both the `staff` and `admin` groups. Since
 it's not in the `admin` group anymore for some reason, you should re-add
 it, for example using `dscl`.
