 I think your approach of not using `chown` when not needed is fine, but
 errors should not occur; if they do, something is wrong and I think we
 should fix it rather than ignore it. The problem does not occur on my
 system. What's wrong is not specific to the netpbm port. There seems to be
 something wrong with MacPorts base on the user's system, with the wrong
 `install.user` being used, but I don't yet know why.
