 The problem I have is that I'm not understanding why the if statements are
 being ignored. The best way to figure that out is to sit in front of a
 suitably configured machine and throw things at it.

 The developer mentioned that some of these API changes are poorly
 documented by Apple. There always is some guesswork involved.

 I think I'll pin to the older version, rather than trying to force the new
 version to work.
