 Would it be helpful to you to try patch tweaks on my Monterey box?

 The problem is that I am not a developer/hacker/programmer of any sort,
 and you would have to give me detailed instructions for running test
 builds. I have never built Unix software except as automated by MacPorts
 (or fink a long time ago).

 If that would be more trouble than it is worth, never mind. But I'm game
 if you are.
