 Thanks, that worked.

 I only used MacPorts since Snow Leopard so I guess 2010? Sorry, I got
 tired of cleaning gettext-runtime as I was stuck in a loop doing this
 multiple times before I filed this bug, I hope you'll understand.

 13 years and first bug! Great testament to quality of MacPorts, thanks
 all.
