 I removed the line completely, {{{py312-numpy}}} then installs without
 problems, but importing numpy results in the same error as before.

 I realised that the installation of py-scipy does give an error message
 because during the installation process the py-numpy installation is
 tested. If I install py-numpy with the {{{+openblas}}} variant, then py-
 scipy installs and can be imported without error.

 I will use the {{{+openblas}}} version for now, but keep the ticket open
 as you suggested. Thanks again!
