 Let me see if I can update one of my Intel machines to a version that
 shows the error. If I can, perhaps we can sort out what the issue is with
 their assembly files.

 In the modern world of compiler optimizations, it is not a given that
 their assembly is actually any faster than the optimized fallback code.
 You’d have to benchmark it to know for sure.
