Comment (by ryandesign):

 The ack port is marked `supported_archs noarch` and `platforms {darwin
 any}` so only one build machine (any macOS architecture or version) needs
 to build the archive and it can be shared with all other macOS systems. Of
 course this doesn't help if you cannot use our binaries.

 Upstream should probably release a new version with their tarball
 repackaged in a more compatible way. See #68047 and #67905.
