 Nobody has pushed my python313 fixes as yet.

 There was some argument (as there almost always is lately it seems) from
 some folks that they didn't like the fixes. So fair enough, we await
 better fixes if there will ever  be any (doubt it).

 And then, once it is decided there are no better fixes, maybe the ones I
 proposed will be committed. Or maybe some slight variation of them will be
 committed as a "much superior" fix. Or somebody might get some other wild
 idea how to fix these older systems after confusing the hell out of some
 poor unsuspecting upstream about them.
