 I don't consider it insane to patch old code; I find it pretty reasonable
 actually, I just don't necessarily have the experience with exiv2 APIs to
 do it myself without further study. Given the amount of time that has
 passed since the release of 0.28.0, we may now be able to find patches we
 can borrow from other package managers.
