 It might be unrelated to #71967. I noticed that the zip file is named
 pandoc-3.6.2.tar.gz (located in
 /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/pandoc/pandoc-3.6.2.tar.gz). The
 configure step expects it be extracted into `pandoc-3.6.2`, but if you
 check with `tar -tzf
 /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/pandoc/pandoc-3.6.2.tar.gz`, you can see
 that the content is in a directory `jgm-pandoc-fd49684`. This is causing
 the build to try to `chdir` to `.../work/pandoc-3.6.2` which is actually
 called `.../work/jgm-pandoc-fd49684`.
