 I followed the instructions below to install the previous gleam 1.9.1
 macport
 https://trac.macports.org/wiki/howto/InstallingOlderPort

 and recorded my observations in this gist

 macports gleam 1.9.1 worked as expected.
 macports gleam 1.10.0 exhibits the failure.
