 it seems like you tried to update the port(s) yourself locally and that
 failed? At least  MacPorts still contains version 3.40.6. I would not
 consider that a “defect”;we have no idea what you tried, it might just not
 be a simple version bump. If what you want to ask is for the maintainer to
 update the port that should be an “update” request.
