Migrating MacPorts

I have to rebuild my OS due to a crappy network stack issue (TKIP keeps 
breaking wirelessly), and want to back up my MacPorts installation.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can store /opt with perms on another 
machine, redo this box, install MacPorts, and move /opt back, and 
everything should theoretically work, correct?

Is there anything else I should do?
