fontconfig 2.4.2 compile woes

Right. gcc 3.3 is the latest for Panther.

Yes, you can replace the fontconfig portfile with any of the previous  
versions which can be found here:

http://trac.macports.org/projects/macports/log/trunk/dports/graphics/ 
fontconfig/Portfile

To discover where the local version of the file is on your system,  
type "port file fontconfig"

However, we need to discover if there is a real problem with the  
fontconfig 2.4.2 portfile, and if so, we need to fix it. Has anybody  
else been able to successfully compile fontconfig 2.4.2 on Mac OS X  
10.3.9? Has anybody else experienced the same problems as Ed?
