Something to "tail -f" during a long build?

Yes, I can do that ... or simply this: "port -v install whatever".

I was talking about the case where I already have started a build
without "-v" (for example, "port install whatever"), and I want
to open another terminal window and look at its progress.

I now know this can't be done.
