I would report this problem upstream to the gimp developers. (http://
www.gimp.org). It is likely that gimp is relying on highly linux-
specific device discovery mechanisms that degrade to very generic
mechanisms on OS X to discover and manage alternate input devices.
I would not expect the linuxwacom module to work on OS X even if you
did get the linux kernel headers, because the linux and OS X kernels
use different hardware management mechanisms.
