fontconfig 2.4.2 compile woes

At the time I had an old expat (< @2.0.1_0) installed.

When I follow your procedure and remove expat & fontconfig (and libxml2
to be sure), fontconfig builds successfully.

Athough fontconfig gave the same errors as Eds, my environment is quite
different. I have MacPorts 1.5.20, but running on Mac OS X 10.4.10 with
Xcode 2.4.1
