zlib build fails Leopard mac os 10.5

You know, the first time I tried to build neon ( or was it zlib ) as a
part of the Subversion dependencies, one of them failed saying it
couldn't find "awk". The second time, it went just fine. It's almost
like there's some strange Environment issues going on during the
build.
