Problem with X11.app / DISPLAY

Deleting everything in /tmp is dangerous if you don't know what it's doing.
Especially anything prefixed by launch which is launchd-related, and
includes how X11 and DISPLAY are handled on 10.5.

As for the actual issue you're having, since it sounds like a base X11
problem, your best bet is the X11 users list:
