Many thanks Scott. I have those settings in my .bashrc file. Joshua's 
discovery has paved my way...However, i was unsure about the command 
'imagemagick', and so it became questionable at this point, and you have 
clarified that for me. I suppose then, that any programme requiring 
imagemagick needs to be told where to find it, unless it conducts a 
search.
