The suggestion there is to deactivate your existing cyrus-sasl2 before  
installing the new one. Please let us know if that works.

The port used to prevent installation unless you did this. That  
protection was removed a few months ago because we thought we had  
fixed the problem (r52930, #17328). Maybe we haven't.
