I've tried to upgrade git-core today. It got stuck on openssl in a
messy way, preventing further upgrades:
---> Computing dependencies for openssl
---> Fetching openssl
---> Attempting to fetch openssl-1.0.0a.tar.gz from
http://distfiles.macports.org/openssl
---> Verifying checksum(s) for openssl
---> Extracting openssl
---> Applying patches to openssl
Error: Target org.macports.patch returned: can't read
"configure.sdkroot": no such variable
Error: Unable to upgrade port: 1
~ sudo port upgrade git-core

What do we do in such cases?
