Amorak Won't Install (All Dependencies Seem in Place)

Okay, it looks like this:
https://trac.macports.org/ticket/23893
does the trick and makes it work.
I'm rather confused. I don't know how many people are working on MacPorts, but this is the second bug I found while trying to install Amarok that has been reported and that could seemingly be fixed by just a change to a make file. I know I don't have a good background in using make or with C and C++ programming, but I find it odd that bugs like this are being reported and are still unpatched 3-5 months later. Is there a man power issue? Or is the problem the time it takes in rebuilding the packages in a test mode, then rebuilding the source package? I'm not trying to be snotty or uppity, I know people are not getting paid for their work here, but I am curious about this. I've found bugs in 2 packages needed for Amarok (which I know is a popular program), so I can't help but wonder if this is a commonplace issue.
Thanks for any help or thoughts on this issue.
