You can file an update ticket on Trac as per
<http://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets>. A speedy resolution is
most likely if you attach a patch.

You can also update a local copy of the port if you can't wait for the
one in the official tree to be updated; see Local Repositories in the Guide.
