texlive-basic update broken

Hi Everybody,

Maybe someone should put this all in perspective.

Basically, TeXLive has been frozen since the end of May.
So, any updates were not from the normal main TexLive distribution,
but from the development test side!

Sooo, any problems are to be expected with such a distribution and should have
been mark as devel!!

As of 20 July 2011 TexLive 2011 has been release to the public.

Soo, TeXLive 2011 should be functioning properly. If it is not working correctly
then it has not yet been fully ported yet.

Which means you have to wait till the maintainers get around to it.

I use to use macports for texlive, but have switched to the MacTeX Distribution.

For one you do not need to wait for the maintainers to catch up with changes in TeXLive
nor with other parts of macports.

Two, I can use tlmgr or the TeXLive Utility to keep my TeXLive distribution up to date,
which you can not do with macports.

Three, I can have multiple TeXLive distributions side-by-side. or other TeX-Distributions.

My suggestion would be if you want a carefree TeXLive go to MacTeX.

Disclaimer:

The volunteers at macports are doing a great job. But, macports is not for the
simple user. Though the macports people try very hard to make it as easy as possible
and it keeps getting better. Yet, there will always be some hiccups.

regards
	Keith
