Hmm. That "original selection '+darwin'" must have been made a very long time ago. MacPorts 1.9 doesn't record the +darwin variant in the registry anymore. Cleaning python27 should be all that's required to reset this. You're sure you've run "sudo port clean python27" and it still occurs? You could also try cleaning all ports, just to be sure. selfupdate first to make sure you have the latest port definitions.

sudo port selfupdate
sudo port clean all
