Same here, installed Xcode-4.4 on top of Xcode-4.3.3 on 10.7.4. It
alerted me that the commands line tools were out of date and needed
updating. I updated them from within Xcode. After installation clang
still reported that it was version 3.1. No matter how many times I
installed the command line tools through Xcode clang was not updated.
Only after downloading the command line tools from connect.apple.com
and installing manually did clang get updated.
