Ah yes, I remember now. It’s unfortunate that clang doesn’t work well on PowerPC. I guess trying to build boost with gcc4X is all you can try.

No; ports are supposed to ignore the compiler (or other utilities) you’ve selected. “port select” is only for your own benefit, outside of MacPorts.
