wrong host name : digikam won't open

Uninstalling software shouldn't delete your preferences or configuration 
files. Imagine the pain of upgrading any software when the previous 
version is removed.

Google points me to this possible file:
~/.kde4/share/config/digikamrc

You could either edit or delete it.
