Installing Pidgin 2.10.11_4+x11 on PPC Powerbook G4 running 10.5.8

Everything installed w/.o problems:

--->  Activating pidgin @2.10.11_4+x11
--->  Cleaning pidgin
--->  Updating database of binaries
--->  Scanning binaries for linking errors
--->  No broken files found.
sh-3.2# exit
exit

But when I run the Pidgin chat client I get this:

Pidgin 2.10.11 has segfaulted and attempted to dump a core file.
This is a bug in the software and has happened through
no fault of your own.

Anyone seen this before?
