Is org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist loaded, per the instructions shown by running "port notes dbus"?
If you're using the X11.app provided by Mac OS X, try using the X11.app provided by the MacPorts xorg-server port instead. Also make sure the xorg-libXrandr port is installed.
