Why doesn't MacPorts handle switching between x11 and quartz better (was: Re: Inkscape 0.92.0 now available on MacPorts)

gtk3 has pluggable backends, although the current gtk3 port is not set up
to use them. gtk2 is a monolith: you have to choose the backend at build
time (and aspects of it leak out, so not all programs using gtk2 work with
all backends even if rebuilt).
