I would like to get my post-2.7.0-beta1 commits into 2.7.0 as well:

https://github.com/macports/macports-base/commit/2bfad62ade3f26e8846c9b63297b9b32c155ee10

https://github.com/macports/macports-base/commit/85d5e10e1fbfc30ad7f7214f2d0b277023213820

If we were at release candidate stage, I would agree with not making any further changes beyond fixing regressions, but we're at beta stage, during which it should be fine to make a few more minor bug fixes.

My commits above improve a feature that is new in 2.7.0. I think it would be good to release the best possible version of that feature right off the bat, rather than make people wait for 2.7.1 or 2.8.0.

Before previous releases, we've typically had a thread on the mailing list announcing the intention to make a new release soon and asking if any further changes should go into that release. For 2.7.0, there wasn't such a thread; beta1 just appeared. I agree it is time for a release and I'm very grateful to you for doing the releases, I just feel there wasn't any warning that this release was coming to give people a chance to get in any last fixes.
