Answering my own request:

$ pydoc2.5 range
-bash: /opt/local/bin/pydoc2.5: 
/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/bin/python:

$ ls -la 
/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/bin/python2.5

Fixed in r37529.

Have not checked yet if this automatically solves issue #14536 [1].
