Comment(by scott@…):

 Hi all,
So sorry! I'm very new to this. Apologies for the mistakes!

 Hi ryandesign:
 I disabled LoadModule php5_module modules/libphp5.so in my httpd.conf and
the crashing stopped. But of course since the majority of my site is .php
files, nothing on the website really worked.

I have the following php related ports installed and active:

  php5 @5.3.2_0+apache2+fastcgi+pear (active)
   php5-gd @5.3.2_1 (active)
   php5-mbstring @5.3.2_0 (active)
   php5-mcrypt @5.3.2_0 (active)
   php5-mysql @5.3.2_0+mysqlnd (active)
   php5-zip @5.3.2_0 (active)
   phpmyadmin @3.2.5_0 (active)

Any suggestions on what I should try to do to see what will stop it from
 crashing?
