IIRC, the perl5 port hasn't been updated to handle either perl5.8 or  
perl5.10 (and just default to one or the other).

Personally, I have perl5.10 installed, with a manually created symlink  
so it's at ${prefix}/bin/perl, and then I edit ports that want to  
install perl5.8 ;-)
