How do you get the ports directory for a port via a script?

1) I don't use sudo...I just su to root when I need root, which is, of
   course, not very often.

2) I didn't even know about the command above, so no, I didn't.
   Hopefully, my chemobrain-cursed memory will allow me to remember that
   next time....
