Hi list,
I am running Big Sur 11.7.4 and just installed OpenSMTPd from MacPorts. The daemon won’t run even with the default config.
$ uname -prv
20.6.0 Darwin Kernel Version 20.6.0: Fri Dec 16 00:35:00 PST 2022; root:xnu-7195.141.49~1/RELEASE_X86_64 i386
$ sudo smtpd -df /opt/local/etc/opensmtpd/smtpd.conf.dist
info: OpenSMTPD 6.8.0p2 starting
smtpd: process control socket closed
A more verbose output is included in the end.
I am wondering if this is related to this GitHub issue: https://github.com/OpenSMTPD/OpenSMTPD/issues/1122.
The user reports that a seemingly similar problem is resolved after upgrading the Linux kernel.
Thanks,
Songbo Wang
